The phone rings, and I pick up to speak with a new client.  They tell me they want to remodel the kitchen, and explain their best attempt to copy something they saw on TV.  After listening long enough to know that they really do want to do something, I schedule an appointment to go visit their home and talk about the possibilities.

I arrive at their home about 5 minutes before the appointment, (sometimes this is the hardest part) and knock on the door.  They welcome me in, and we walk to the kitchen.

As we approach the kitchen, they apologize that their home is such a mess, and tell me why their very clean and orderly home is so extremely messy,

Once in the kitchen, they explain all of the things that they don't like about the area, and how poorly the space is used.

I take notes, and ask questions to help me understand how they use the kitchen for cooking, food prep, and what type of gatherings they intend to host and entertain.

I ask how often they actually cook, use the microwave, and if they cook with others or alone.  I come to understand how to best arrange the kitchen for their optimal use.

This is where all of my trade secrets come in and I must keep something a secret, but effectively, I help my new client and future best friend understand how my proposed design will help remove the stresses and misused space to allow for a comfortable and luxurious use of the space.

Sometimes this requires a complete renovation and alteration of the footprint.  Sometimes, small adjustments can be made to make the space fit perfectly for their intended use, and other times, I just need to help them feel comfortable with what they have and understand that just because they saw an episode on TV showing what changes could be done, doesn't imply that they have to redo their kitchen.

After we discuss the scheme, and agree on a concept, it's time to shop!  We tour a few suppliers and pick out a flooring, countertop, backsplash, wall colors, and fixtures to complete the theme and design concepts.

Then, they stand back and watch the magic create dust and invade their home...

Not sure why, but no one ever considers the mess...just expecting magically for the new beautiful kitchen to snap into place and for the old stuff to simply disappear.

Truth be told, it almost happens that way because we are just that fast...

NOT!

We can remodel a kitchen in as little as 2 weeks, but mostly, it takes a few days to remove the old, create a work around for the home owner to keep on living without a kitchen, connect with suppliers and order cabinets and appliances to arrive in time.

After the general footprint and cabinets are in place, we create a template and schedule counters to be installed.

Counters and sinks are installed at the same time, however the plumbing is not connected and turned on until the next day to allow the sealant for the sinks and counters to set and cure properly before coming into contact with the water.

After plumbing is all connected, and the kitchen set up for use, we get to install the finishing touches like the pressure switch garbage disposal, the cabinet lighting, the intricate backsplash, the cabinet handles, the additional jobs added on by the homeowner to add a little splash of color, or the next room because the rest of the house looks so ugly in comparison...

After all is complete, we bid our parting farewell as we move out of our best friend's house and on to the next job...usually very close to their home because the neighbors get jealous and want something done too...

After all, we all have to compete with the Jones'...

This is not true.  Don't compete with the Jones'.  Build your house the way you like it, and do what you need for your home.  I can't tell you how many people I have talked OUT of having work done because they just didn't need it, and NO.  Not every job will add equity onto the value of your home.

This is something unique to Turbo Renovations.  We care about you as a person.  You aren't just another paycheck for us.  You are a human.  You have a life with needs and wants.  We can learn what your wants are, and we will always help advise you on the best use of your assets to help meet those wants.  When a silly renovation or crazy TV inspired project isn't in your best interest, we will let you know and advise you AWAY from a bad idea.

Sleep well knowing that when we work on a job, it WILL add equity, simplify your life, and make your home more comfortable to your needs.  To quote a great marketing campaign of a well known insurance company (which we highly recommend) "Like a good neighbor..." we are there for you.
